This policy explains what information Litfy collects, why, and the choices you have. We have written it in plain language.
Who we are
Litfy (litfy.com) is responsible for the personal data described here. You can reach us at hello@litfy.com.
What we collect
- Account details — if you create an account: your email address, display name and password (stored encrypted by our authentication provider).
- Reading data — your reading position, bookmarks, shelves and books you share or give. On devices without an account this stays in your browser.
- Newsletter — if you subscribe: your email address and a record of when and how you agreed.
- Usage analytics — only if you accept analytics cookies: pages visited, approximate location, device and browser type, and how you use the site, collected through Google Analytics.
- Technical logs — standard server logs (such as IP address and time of request) kept briefly for security.
Why we use it
- To provide the library and your account features (contract).
- To keep the service secure and working (legitimate interest).
- To send the newsletter you asked for (consent).
- To understand which books are read and how to improve Litfy (consent, through the cookie banner).
- If we introduce marketing or advertising features in the future, we will only use them with your separate consent.
Who we share it with
We never sell your personal data. We use trusted service providers to run Litfy: hosting and database infrastructure, email delivery, and Google (for analytics, only with your consent). Some providers may process data outside the EU under appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
Account and reading data are kept while your account exists. Newsletter records are kept while you are subscribed, plus a record of your unsubscribe. Analytics data is kept for up to 14 months.
Cookies and local storage
Essential storage keeps you signed in and remembers your reading position, text size and theme. It is always on because the site cannot work without it.
Analytics cookies (Google Analytics: _ga, _ga_*) help us understand how Litfy is used. They are only set if you accept them.
Marketing cookies are not used today. If we add them, they will stay off unless you accept them.
You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct, export or delete your data, object to processing, or withdraw consent at any time. Email hello@litfy.com. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority (in Sweden: IMY).
Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, let you know.
